Update: Venue & Draft Schedule

We are delighted to bring you a major update as we continue preparing for the upcoming Fields of Conflict Conference.

While our full, finalized conference programme is still currently in development, the organizing committee has been working hard behind the scenes to map out the flow of the event. We are now in a position to share a draft schedule of the conference to help you plan your travel and attendance.

You can view the provisional schedule here: https://foc2026.co.uk/attend/programme/

Alongside the draft schedule, we have also updated several key pages on our website to ensure you have all the practical information you need for a seamless experience:

We recommend checking these pages as you finalize your travel arrangements. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for the conference. We look forward to welcoming you all very soon!

Call for Sessions Complete!

We are pleased to announce that our soft opening for Fields of Conflict 2026 has been a great success.

Our Call for Sessions, which we quietly announced on December 18th 2026 is now officially closed to public submissions. Despite the low-key nature of our announcement, we have been overwhelmed by the fantastic response from the community.

We have received a number of exciting proposals covering a variety of topics. From the osteoarchaeology of conflict, to experimental archaeology, and the archaeology of protest/civil disobedience. We’re also delighted by the international nature of the submissions. Which cover conflict across multiple eras from a wide array of geographic locations, including Europe, North America, South-East Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.

The organising committee now faces the difficult decision of which of these many sessions to include in our final programme.

In the meantime we look forward to the announcement of our general Call for Papers, which has already generated significant interest from the community and which we expect to produce an even greater response than we have received in our Call for Sessions.
