Travel Award Announcement & Extended Call for Papers

H. H. Mooney Memorial Travel Award

The Organising Committee is delighted to be able to announce the availability of a new travel grant, made possible through the Hugh H. Mooney Memorial Travel Award. The award is intended to assist with the costs of attending the conference for the purposes of presenting.

The H. H. Mooney Memorial Travel Award has two distinct funding streams:

Student Support Award:

  • This fund is open to matriculated undergraduate or postgraduate students of a recognised institution for higher education.
  • The fund is also available to recent graduates from a recognised institution, who have graduated at any time in the last two years (since 2024).

Discretionary Support Award:

  • This fund is open to all speakers, to be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
  • A preference will be given to applicants from marginalised communities, or those who may face challenges related to long-distance travel, such as those travelling from outside the Global North.

Successful applicants will receive a travel grant of £200. Funds will only be granted if the applicant’s abstract is accepted for the conference programme.

We are deeply grateful for the kind generosity of members and friends of the Mooney Family whose contribution has enabled us to support broader participation in this year’s conference.

Call for Papers Extension

In light of this new funding opportunity, we are pleased to announce that the Call for Conference Papers has been extended until 20 April. This extension is intended to give prospective applicants sufficient time to submit both their paper proposals and travel award applications.

This award aims to foster a wider diversity of applicants and scholarly contributions. We especially encourage papers from areas underrepresented in this years’ submissions including prehistoric, classical, medieval, and pre-contact research.
